Mrs. Geene's second-grade class is "in tent" on reading books

No bug repellent necessary. Mrs. Geene's second-graders spent most of the day Friday, Oct. 28 camped out in a tent in the middle of her classroom reading books. The students had recently finished reading the book, “Henry and Mudge and the Starry Night,” in which the title characters—Henry, a boy, and Mudge, his dog—go on a family camping trip and take long hikes in the woods where they see deer, raccoons and other forest creatures. Mrs. Geene signed out all the books from the "Henry and Mudge" series she could find from the elementary school’s library. She said that all her students, even the typically reluctant readers in her class, thoroughly enjoyed reading in the tent. In the afternoon, students received an extra special treat—they got to make and eat S’mores as part of the reading camp experience!
