New college prep program targeted to high school juniors

About half the Class of 2018 recently visited the State University of Albany as part of Watervliet High School's new Junior College Prep program.

Students to participate in campus visits and workshops, receive assistance with college application process

Watervliet High School has introduced a new program to help support high school students as they make important decisions about college.

Through the Junior College Prep program, approximately half the Class of 2018 visited the State University at Albany on Feb. 1. The 11th graders attended a presentation about college admissions standards, gathered information about the university’s programs of study, and learned about U Albany’s community and culture by touring the uptown campus lecture centers, dorms, dining halls, libraries and the campus center.

Later in the week, another 45 students (the balance of the class) visited Siena College in nearby Loudonville.

In addition to college tours, the Junior College Prep program offers 11th graders an opportunity to participate in workshops and receive step-by-step guidance that will help them navigate the college application process.
