Watervliet to offer summer school through South Colonie CSD for eligible students

Watervliet Jr. /Sr. High School is partnering with the South Colonie Central School District again this year to offer summer school tuition-free for students in grades 9-12 who meet the eligibility criteria.

Watervliet administrators and school counselors will continue to review students’ grades through June 12 to determine which students meet the criteria for attending summer classes in Colonie.

Summer school registration will be Tuesday, June 27 and Wednesday, June 28 from 8-11 a.m. at Watervliet High School.

Program runs from July 5 to August 15

The summer program will take place four days per week (Mondays through Thursdays), beginning Wednesday, July 5 and ending Tuesday, August 15. Morning sessions will be offered at Lisha Kill School with the first class beginning at 7:30 a.m., followed by the second class at 9:15 a.m. Watervliet will provide a shuttle via a single bus run that will pick up students at Watervliet Jr./Sr. High School promptly at 7 a.m. for travel to Lisha Kill School. The bus will return students to Watervliet by 11:30 a.m.

Watervliet students who do not meet the eligibility criteria may enroll in summer school programs through South Colonie or other neighboring public school districts; however, parents or guardians will be responsible for tuition or fees associated with those summer programs. Students must have written permission from the guidance department to apply for summer school entrance to a specific course or courses. All district students must still meet academic and attendance levels to enroll in any summer school course even out of the district.
