WHS singers Adrian Blackman and Kevin
Angus recently returned from Harmony Extreme - a 4 day camp
located at Bridgewater State College in MA. The purpose of
the camp is to promote and expose young men to acapella
music. The students and educators that attend the camp come
from all over the northeast. The Barbershop Harmony Society
sponsor the students and provide them with some of the
biggest names in barbershop to direct them. This year the 50
plus member chorus was under the direction of Rick Spencer,
Larry Bean and the internationally award winning quartet
"Men In Black". The students prepared 3 barbershop and 3
non-barbershop songs over the 4 days.
While the students were rehearsing, WHS Music teacher Terry
Bradway participated in the educators track which consisted
of attending 22+ hours of rehearsals and clinics that
provided her with tools and information on how to enhance
her abilities as a music educator.
The camp concluded with an amazing concert from the young
men, the educators and 5 award winning quartets. The finale
of the program brought all 100 plus singers together to sing
"An American Hymn" which brought the audience to their feet.
"The boys and I really enjoyed the
experience that the camp provided and are looking forward to
attending again next year," said Mrs. Bradway. |
