Watervliet athletic gear available now

 

Watervliet baseball games rescheduled for Friday

The junior varsity and varsity baseball games scheduled for Thursday, April 17 will be played on Friday, April 18. The JV team will play at Chatham and the varsity team will play at the Boght Rd. sports complex.

Girls' Basketball Banquet

The annual banquet will be held on Saturday, April 26 in the Watervliet High School cafeteria beginning at 6 p.m. The charge is $10 for adults, and $5 for children under 12. If you are interested in attending, please contact Coach Johnson at 783-5270. All are welcome.

Watervliet home baseball field for Spring 2014 season

Due to construction, Watervliet's varsity and junior varsity baseball teams will be playing home games at the North Colonie Sports Complex on Boght Road. Directions to the field are listed below.

     GPS Address: 1155 New Loudon Road, Cohoes, NY 12047

From the South or West - take NYS Thruway exit 24 and proceed to I-87 North. Take exit 7, the ramp will loop to right making a full circle and will bring you onto Rte. 9 Latham. Go North on Rte. 9 for 5 miles. You will pass Guptill's Roller Skating Arena on the right and once you pass the intersection of Boght Rd. the ballpark is 1/2 mile ahead at the next traffic light. Go right into the Boght Baseball complex .

From the North - take I-87 South to exit 8. Turn left off the exit ramp and proceed to the end of the road until you intersect with Rte. 9. At the intersection go right, South on Rte. 9 for approximately 3 miles. Ballpark will be on your left.

Basketball player and senior Quinn Capitula represented his team and Watervliet High School at the recent Section 2 Scholar Athlete Brunch on Sunday, March 23 at the Albany Marriott. With a GPA of 90, Quinn was selected to represent the school for having the highest GPA on the boys' basketball team.

Fitness Center public hours

The Fitness Center at WJSHS will be open to the public on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-8 p.m. Residents who are interested in using the facility will need to fill out a the Fitness Center waiver. Call the WCSD Athletic Department at 629-3303 for more information.

All Watervliet City School District sports schedules are now available online through ColonialCouncil.org. Click here to access to Watervliet’s athletics schedule.

Watervliet student athletes will begin reporting for practices for the fall sports season next week. See you on the field beginning Monday.

The Watervliet City School Athletics Department believes that student-athletes grow mentally, physically, and socially through their involvement in sports. Hopefully, this growth will result in a healthy lifestyle which will be prevalent throughout their lives.

Watervliet City School is governed by the New York State High School Athletic Association, Section 2, and the Colonial Athletic Conference, competing as a Class “B/C” sized school.
