Summer 2010 at WCSD

Summer Reading grades 9-12:
The Watervliet High School English Department provides a summer reading list for each grade level. These lists include timeless classics, popular picks, books thematically related to other books the students may have read, and titles connected to specific English courses. We would ask that each student will choose two books from the list for his/her next grade level. Students will be informed of these assignments before the school year ends.

Summer Reading grades 7-8:
Students will be required to read two selections from the list before the start of the 2010-2011 school year. Upon returning to school in September, students will be given an assignment that they will be responsible for completing to assess their understanding of each book. These assignments will be the first major grades for English class. The best preparation for these assignments is careful reading so we have attached a graphic organizer to help record important details from the readings.
