The Arsenal Partnership donated funds raised through its 4th Annual Tom Hartnett Memorial Golf Outing at the Colonie Golf & Country Club in September to the school district again this year to support extracurricular opportunities for Watervliet students. Proceeds from this year's tournament also benefited the The Michael R. McNulty Center for Veteran Entrepreneurial Activity, a business accelerator and shared resources  space for veteran entrepreneurs housed at the Watervliet Arsenal.

The generosity of event sponsors, businesses and golfers help enrich learning opportunities through extracurricular programming for the more than 1,300 students who attend Watervliet schools. In recent years, the district has had to reduce or eliminate after-school programming due to budget shortfalls created by the state’s Gap Elimination Adjustment (GEA), decreased state aid and rising costs.

“We remain incredibly thankful for the continued support of the Arsenal Partnership,” said Dr. Lori Caplan, superintendent of schools. “We are also grateful to the event volunteers for their time and efforts as well as the many local businesses and individuals who made donations in support of programs that are vital to our students’ educational experience.”
