Watervliet's summer program helps strengthen skills for students in every grade level

With ongoing construction at Watervliet Junior-Senior High School this summer, the Elementary School has served as the host for the district’s six-week summer learning program.
Teachers have been working with students from kindergarten through grade 12 during the program that began on July 6 and ends August 18. The summer program provides an opportunity for K-8 students to reinforce literacy, math, science and other skills as they prepare for the upcoming school year.
Students in grades 9-12 are keeping their skills up, too, as they earn credits toward their diploma and many prepare to take August Regents exams. Students attend classes such as Integrated Algebra, Geometry, Living Environment, Social Studies, English and Health from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
