What are colleges really looking for?

• A challenging high school course load

• Grades that reflect strong effort and an upward trend

• Solid scores on standardized tests

• Passionate involvement in activities, including leadership roles

• Community Service

• Extra-Curricular Activities

• Steady part-time job

• Well-written essay showing your personality, values, and goals

• Letters of recommendation from teachers, counselors, town officials, coaches, volunteer supervisors, and/or employers

• Anything “above and beyond” the normal activity of a standard adolescent
