Keyboard Specialist – Civil Service Position

Note: Keyboard Specialist (formally called Clerk Typist) is a Civil Service Position 
Location: Watervliet Jr. – Sr. High School 
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: $26,000-$31,000 per year plus benefits
Type of Position: 12 Month
Job Description:
Performs a variety of clerical and secretarial duties in support of the Assistant Principal; prepares and maintains a variety of manual and automated records; assures a smooth and efficient office; answers phones; maintains files; makes photocopies; greets and assists students, faculty, staff, parents and others; receives, screens and routes telephone calls; takes and relays messages; resolves issues as they arise.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Must be a resident of Albany County, preference given to residents of the City of Watervliet.
  2. Applicant will be appointed provisionally – subject to score on Civil Service exam (date of exam to be determined) and fingerprint clearance.
  3. Computer skills include advanced use of Word and/or Google Docs and Excel and/or Google Spreadsheets. Ability to learn in-house education software programs, including e-school.
  4. Ability to work with students/staff in varied social/cultural backgrounds.
  5. Ability to handle multiple jobs simultaneously, handle deadlines and prioritize office needs.
  6. Ability to maintain confidentiality and flexibility.
  7. Must possess excellent organizational skills, creative problem solving skills, and effective communication skills.
  8. Experience with middle-school students a plus.
