As she begins her role as the new assistant principal at Watervliet Jr.-Sr. High School this week, Angela Zotta reflected on what inspired her to pursue a career in education.
“Some of the people who had the biggest impact on my life were educators, and that inspired me to want to do the same for others,” said Mrs. Zotta. “I love that every day in education is different, and I value the relationships, sense of community, and opportunity to make a positive difference.”
The Board approved the appointment of Mrs. Zotta to assistant principal in April, replacing Michael Lopez, who left the district recently for a position in the Saratoga City Schools.
An educator for 18 years, Mrs. Zotta steps into the role with strong instructional and leadership experience having served most recently as assistant principal in the Schenectady City School District. She taught sixth grade in Schenectady schools before becoming an assistant principal.
Mrs. Zotta earned a Bachelor Degree in Psychology The George Washington University, a Master’s Degree in Childhood Education at The College of Saint Rose, and furthered her studies at SUNY Plattsburgh where she earned Advanced Certificates in School Building Leadership and School District Leadership.
