How to Request an Absentee or Military Ballot for the May 18 School Budget Vote

The 2021-22 Watervliet City School District budget vote and board election will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18, 2021.

Absentee ballots

Absentee ballots are available, upon request, to residents of the school district who will be out of town or unable to vote in person due to illness or disability. This year, Executive Order 202.81 allows voters who are afraid of contracting COVID-19, to select “illness” when requesting an absentee ballot. To vote via absentee ballot, district residents must first complete and sign an absentee ballot application. Download an application for an absentee ballot

A completed application must be received by the District Clerk at least seven (7) days before the election if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter or the day before the election if the ballot is to be picked up at the District Office. The ballot itself must be returned to the District Clerk no later than 5 p.m. on the day of the election.

Military ballots

A military voter may elect to receive his/her military voter registration application (must be completed if not currently a registered voter), military absentee ballot application and absentee ballot by mail, email or fax. The military voter must, however, return his/her original military voter registration application, military ballot application and military ballot by mail or in person, regardless of how the absentee application or ballot was received.

The District Clerk will send the ballot no later than May 3, 2021. The District Clerk must then receive the military voter’s military registration application, military absentee ballot application and absentee ballot by mail not later than 5 p.m. on the day of the vote.
