WES students shine in NYS Brighter Future video

Several Watervliet fourth-grade students were literally in the spotlight as a crew videotaped them reciting lines for the Building a Brighter Future for New York video (scroll below) that was shown prior to Governor Hochul’s 2024 State of the State address.

You can watch the five grade 4 students at the beginning (0:00-0:17) and at the close (4:25-4:39) of the video.

Earlier in the week, Governor Kathy Hochul visited Watervliet Elementary School to announce her proposal for a new literacy initiative as part of the State of the State. Fourth-grader Nathan Rogers introduced the Governor as she entered the school library to speak with students, state and local officials, education leaders and partners, invited guests and the media. Nathan did such a good job emceeing that he was invited to lead the Pledge of Allegiance at the State of the State address at the NYS Capitol on Jan. 9.
