WHS senior’s artwork featured in NY Congressional Art Competition

Senior Mariah Fulton represented Watervliet Jr.-Sr. High School in the 2026 Congressional Art Competition for New York’s 20th district, where her artwork was on display at Union College’s Nott Memorial during an artist reception on May 1.

Mariah’s drawing titled “In Memory Of” was among the art created by 42 students from 21 high schools across the Capital Region that were submitted for the exhibit. We congratulate Mariah on this great accomplishment and celebrate her artistic talent.

U.S. Congressman Paul D. Tonko said he is inspired every year by the incredible talent and creativity displayed by the students in his district who enter the Congressional Art Competition.

“Art plays a vital role in our students’ education, giving them a powerful outlet to share their ideas, their talents, and their unique perspectives on the world,” said Congressman Tonko. “I’m thrilled to recognize this year’s gifted participants, and I’m incredibly grateful to the parents, teachers, and supporters who have helped guide and encourage them along the way.”
