Dec. 30 Update: Three positive COVID cases reported

The district has learned of three new positive COVID-19 cases since our last notification was shared on Dec. 23.

Each new case is listed below. Please note that per the Albany County Department of Health guidelines, no additional contact tracing of school community members was required in any of these cases.

  • One case is associated with an individual from the Watervliet Elementary School community. The individual was last in school on Dec. 16.
  • Two cases are associated with individuals from the Watervliet Jr.-Sr. High School community. One individual was last on campus Dec. 10, the other was last in the building on Dec. 16.

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information, meaning we cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.

If we learn of additional cases during the remainder of the break, we will send an update on Jan. 4. If there is significant news or a development that requires action by the school district, we will send a One Call Now email, phone message, or text to families and staff as needed.

During the holiday break, schools are not able to report new cases to the NYS COVID-19 Dashboard. We will return to a regular schedule of notifications when school is back in session.

Please continue to be safe and do your part to help us return to in-person teaching and learning on Monday, Jan. 4.

(This message was sent to WCSD families and staff via One Call Now email on Wednesday, Dec. 30.)
