District limits outdoor activities due to air-quality concerns

For the second day in a row, our schools are following precautions to limit outdoor activities due to air-quality issues impacting the Capital Region and much of New York state as a result of wildfires in Canada.

  • All physical education classes and outdoor recess activities will remain inside.
All outdoor field trips will be postponed and rescheduled.
All classroom windows will be kept closed.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has extended air-quality health advisories until late Wednesday night. The DEC recommends that persons with heart or lung disease, older adults, children and teens – take any of these steps to reduce exposure:

  • Avoid strenuous outdoor activities.
    Keep outdoor activities short.
Consider moving physical activities indoors or rescheduling them.

We will continue to monitor this situation as the week progresses.
