Ten Watervliet Elementary School students have been awarded the 2025 Capital Zone Sandra G. Morley Physical Education Student Leadership Award. This selective award is presented to Capital Region elementary school students by the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (NYSAHPERD).

Richard Berhaupt, Kylee Fandl, Laurel Blake, Nathan Rogers, Jaxson Strock, Roselynn Youngblood, Amelia Jamison, Emily Jamison, Elijah Yepez and Dominic Scorsone — all fifth graders — received their awards on May 12 during a ceremony at the McDonough Sports Complex on the Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) campus.

The award winners were recognized for demonstrating sportsmanship, a physically active lifestyle, leadership, and positive influence on peers across all school activities, not just in physical education.
