March 29 Update: Two new cases of COVID-19 reported

We learned of two new positive cases of COVID-19 in our school community over the weekend.

One case involves an individual from the Watervliet Elementary School community. All contacts have been notified by school administration and advised to quarantine as a precaution per health department guidelines. One classroom has switched to remote learning for this week and will return to in-person learning after spring break.

The other case is connected to the Watervliet Jr.-Sr. High School community. All contacts have been notified by school administration and advised to quarantine as a precaution per health department guidelines.

We encourage students, families and staff members to continue to practice safety protocols outside of school, which include limiting group gatherings, practicing good hygiene, wearing masks and following social distance guidelines. We also remind students and staff members to complete the daily COVID screening/attestation in the morning before arriving at school or boarding the school bus.

Please DO NOT send your child to school or come to work when feeling sick or exhibiting any of the following symptoms: fever, fatigue/tiredness, muscle/body aches or pains, congestion, cough, runny nose, shortness of breath/difficulty breathing, nausea/vomiting or diarrhea, headache, loss of taste or smell, rash, feeling sick or unwell in any way.

If you or your child are experiencing symptoms, please contact your health care provider immediately. COVID-19 testing information is available by calling the New York State Department of Health COVID-19 Hotline at (888) 364-3065 or visit the Albany County Department of Health website.

We thank you for your continued patience and cooperation.
