Over the summer, students turned the world around them into a classroom! From museums and historic sites to iconic landmarks, zoos, and aquariums, students explored, discovered, and learned through hands-on experiences and real-world adventures.
From Thacher Park to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, Saratoga Battlefield to Howes Caverns, and MiSci to the New York State Museum — our grades 7-8 students in the Summer Travel program traversed many miles and experienced fun, learning and friendship as they visited a variety of sites and attractions in the Capital Region and beyond.
The students explored the Earth’s geology – 156 feet underground – during a trip to Howe Caverns in Schoharie County and astronomy with a visit to the planetarium to study the constellations at miSci | Museum of Innovation and Science in Schenectady. They learned about plants, animals and habitats with trips to Bailiwick Animal Park in Catskill, Five Rivers Conservation Center in Delmar and Via Aquarium in Rotterdam. While touring historic grounds, like Saratoga Battlefield and the Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site in Hyde Park, students were immersed in the exploration of American history and the events and people that made on impact on our nation.
Their curiosity took them on new adventures, inspired their learning, and created friendships and memories that will last well beyond the summer.
