During the April 14 meeting, the Board of Education unanimously adopted a proposed 2026–27 school budget totaling $46,319,000. The budget proposal represents a 5 percent increase in spending from the current year.
The adopted budget maintains all personnel, programs and services, supports the diverse learning needs of students, and makes essential updates to the district’s technology infrastructure.
It would increase the school tax levy by 1.47 percent, which is below the district’s maximum allowable tax levy limit of 1.99% under the state’s tax “cap” formula.
Voters will also elect two candidates to the Board of Education.
A public budget hearing will be held on Tuesday, May 5 at 6 p.m., in the high school’s administrative conference room. The annual school budget vote is set for Tuesday, May 19, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., at two polling locations: Watervliet Elementary School and the Watervliet Elks Lodge.
More information will be shared through a budget newsletter, which will be mailed to district residents in early May. Additional details can be found on the Budget web page.
