Dear Watervliet City Schools Community:
Each year, the New York State Education Department (NYSED), under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), is required to identify the support model for every K–12 school and district in New York State. The support model determined through the ESSA accountability system is crucial to ensuring every student gets the support they need to succeed, promoting fairness, and preparing students for a bright future.
We are notifying you that the Watervliet Jr.-Sr. High School has been identified for the Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI) support model for the 2025–2026 school year, based on our 2024–2025 school year results. This indicates that our school would benefit from additional support and resources based on our performance in the 2024–2025 school year in areas such as the Weighted Average Achievement Performance and the Growth Level of specific student subgroups in grades 6-8.
As part of the TSI support model, we will receive funding, resources, and additional support from the state and district to help improve student outcomes. This is an opportunity to enhance student performance and work towards excellence.
Please view this infographic, What You Need to Know About Support Model Identifications, which provides insight into what it means to be identified for additional support.
We are committed to continuous improvement and welcome your questions and feedback as we continue to work toward excellence.
Sincerely,
Dr. Donald Stevens Jr.
Superintendent
