Board of Education adopts $30.4 million school budget

Residents to vote on May 18

During its meeting on April 22, the Watervliet Board of Education unanimously adopted a proposed $30,463,000 budget for the 2021-22 school year.

The proposed budget maintains current staffing levels and supports all academic programs, services and extracurricular opportunities for students. The proposal carries a tax levy increase of 0.5%, which is significantly below the district’s limit as determined by the state’s tax “cap” formula.

District leaders encourage families, staff, students and community members to learn more about the proposed budget during the Public Budget Hearing on Tuesday, May 11 at 6 p.m.

Residents will vote on the budget Tuesday, May 18 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Details of the 2021-22 school budget proposal will be posted online and also shared in a newsletter to be mailed to residents in early May.
