HVCC offers college-bound seniors a head start this summer

Hudson Valley Community College’s Office of Community Education is offering two academic preparation programs this summer – Head Start on Math and Head Start on Writing. The workshops, which are offered at no cost, are aimed at preparing incoming college freshmen with the skills for taking college-level courses.  Visit the HVCC website for information on the Head Start programs

HEAD START ON MATH

A program for students who want to brush up on their math skills, and learn about the college and its academic support resources. Head Start on Math gives students the opportunity to work on basic math skills, and get a “head start” on preparedness for Basic Math (MATH 095), and Elementary Algebra (MATH 099). Students will be more confident navigating the campus and understanding the vast learning resources HVCC offers.

  • Being offered online:
    • July 5 – August 12
  • Being offered in-person (2-week program):
    • August 15 – 19, Monday – Friday and
    • August 22 – 25, Monday – Thursday

HEAD START ON WRITING

A program for students who need to brush up on their writing skills and become acclimated with campus resources.

Students will have the opportunity to work with Writing and Research Center faculty on writing skills, and get a head start on being better prepared for English Composition I.

    • July 5 – August 12
  • Being offered in-person (2-week program):
    • August 15 – 19 Monday-Friday and
    • August 22 – 25 Monday-Thursday
