Principal’s End-of-Year Letter; 2022 Regents Exam Schedule

Dear Watervliet Jr.-Sr. High School Families,

With the end of the school year quickly approaching, we are preparing for Regents, final exams and mandatory review sessions. If your child is scheduled to take a June Regents and/or final exam, please encourage them to take advantage of the mandatory review sessions offered prior to Regents week, which will help prepare them for the exams. A schedule of test review sessions is available below.

The last full day of classes at WJSHS is Tuesday, June 14. There is no school on Monday, June 20, in recognition of the Juneteenth holiday. Attention: The last day of Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes is Wednesday, June 8. Students who attend CTE are required to attend their regular high school classes through June 14.

Regents exam are scheduled for Wednesday, June 15 through Thursday, June 23. High school students are reminded that morning exams start promptly at 8 a.m., and afternoon exams begin promptly at 12 p.m. (noon). Students must be on time and ready to start at the designated exam time. Students are required to sit for a minimum of two hours for the exams.

Please note: Bags of any kind (backpacks, purses) and electronic devices are not permitted in the test area. If an electronic device is found in the testing area, the student will be removed and their test will be disqualified. If a student brings any of these items to school, the items will be retained in the main office; however, the school district will not be responsible for electronic or valuable personal items. All valuable items should be left at home.

A schedule with the dates and times of each Regents exam, as well as a bus schedule is available below. Please be sure to review the schedule carefully and  make sure your child attends on the test day as no make-up exams will be administered for Regents exams.

Junior high school students will attend a half-day schedule from 7:30 – 10:30 a.m. from Wednesday, June 15 through Friday, June 17. If your child has not met the criteria to be promoted to the next grade, your child’s school counselor will reach out to discuss options.

Students may use our office phones to make arrangements for transportation, if necessary. Buses will run their regular morning routes. In addition to the regular routes, we will offer shuttles at the times listed below.

A healthy breakfast and lunch will be served each day. Please be sure your child gets a good night’s sleep and comes prepared to do their best! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call the school counseling office at 518-629-3302.

Thank you,
Ryan Groat, WJSHS Principal
