Roundup of December events

December was a busy month with winter concerts, winter sports competitions, PTA events, and learning activities in the classroom. Here is a quick roundup in pictures of some of the events that took place throughout the month.

Watervliet PTA Breakfast with Santa

On December 9, students and their families enjoyed pancakes, eggs, bacon and other treats during the PTA’s Breakfast with Santa. Children had an opportunity to visit with Santa and have their photo taken at this annual event.

Adopt-a-Student 

Hundreds of gifts were collected at both schools during our adopt-a-student event in December. The gifts were then distributed to families to help make the holidays merrier and brighter for students.  Read more

WES In-School Concert

The Watervliet Elementary School band and chorus performed an in-school concert for all students and staff the week before holiday break. It was an abbreviated version of the WES Winter Concert that was held on Dec. 13.

Student Ambassadors

WES Student Ambassadors delivered poinsettias and cards to residents at the Hanratta Apartments on Dec. 15. Read more

Family Opportunity Center Gingerbread Houses

Students, families, teachers, staff and administrators had a fun time building and decorating gingerbread houses at a special after-school activity offered through our Family Opportunity Center.

Holiday Parade Bus

Administrators, board members and staff were invited to hop on a “decked-out” school bus that was lit up and ready to roll through the city in the annual Holiday Parade on December 20.

Cannoneer Chorus at Senior Center

The Cannoneer Chorus performed a medley of holiday classics at the Watervliet Senior Center entertaining all who attended on Dec. 21.
