School Climate Survey seeks input from students, staff and families

The Watervliet City School District is dedicated to fostering a positive school climate for all students, parents/guardians, and staff. The district is conducting a School Climate Survey to ensure that our priorities best meet the needs of our school community and to gather feedback from various perspectives on school safety and the overall teaching and learning environment in our schools. We invite and encourage all stakeholders to participate.

  • Students in grades 5-12 will complete the online survey during their social studies class the week of May 9-13.
  • Parents/guardians will receive an email containing a link to the survey via the district’s One Call Now system. The survey link will remain open through Friday, May 20.
  • Staff will receive a survey link through their district email accounts.

If you do not receive an email and you want to participate in the survey, please contact Kirsten DeMento, Director of Accountability at 518-629-3231 to have your email address updated or added to the district’s One Call Now system.

What is the School Climate Survey?

The School Climate Survey was developed by the US Department of Education as a common, reliable, and nationally-validated assessment of school climate for districts and schools to measure, improve and sustain a healthy teaching and learning environment. The survey is administered to students, parents/guardians, and school staff via an online platform. Participation is completely voluntary and confidential; no personally identifiable information will be requested or collected from survey respondents. Data collected is for district use only. The 2022 School Climate Survey is similar to the survey used in 2019.

The online survey will be open through May 20. Thank you in advance for your participation!
